    When seeking employees with TikTok skills, what do employers look for specifically?

    Creating high-quality content for TikTok requires not just originality and rapid thinking but also expertise in videography, editing, and other areas, as well as various other abilities. Additionally, employers want Gen Z employees who can demonstrate their TikTok talents in the workplace.

    We analyzed the over ten thousand job postings on Student Circus that referred to TikTok. Here is what we discovered, along with its implications for you as you look for work:

    The Primary Lessons Learned

    • Since 2019, there has been an almost 17% increase in job postings that reference TikTok.
    • Employers in various fields, such as media and marketing, education, non-profit work, technology, and healthcare, are looking for people with experience using TikTok.
    • Employers seek candidates with diverse abilities, including content development, graphic design, video editing, familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, and understanding of Google Analytics, as indicated by the term “TikTok talents.”

    Employers Are Looking for TikTok Skills Related to Video Production and Editing

    During the first COVID-19 lockdown, when the app became the quickest social media platform to achieve 1 billion users, mentions of TikTok talents occurred simultaneously, with the app’s user base growing exponentially. This rise coincided with TikTok’s rapid expansion.

    There is a correlation between the increased use of “TikTok” as a keyword in job descriptions and the increased demand for talents connected to video production (specifically, video editing and production). This is a response to a bigger trend toward the consumption of video material. 

    Cisco has forecasted that by the end of 2022, online videos would account for more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic, which is 15 times greater than in 2017.

    Which Particular Abilities Are Most Desired by Employers?

    A list of employers The term “TikTok” in a student job description suggests that the candidate possesses a comprehensive set of abilities and knowledge. 

    These may include the following:

    • Familiarity with several up-and-coming social media sites
    • Production of content
    • Abilities in both verbal and written communication
    • Creating graphics and editing videos
    • Working familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite
    • Analytics provided by Google

    Which Industries Are Seeking Individuals with TikTok Skills?

    Which industries are actively seeking candidates with expertise in TikTok? It turns out every one of them! A little less than a fifth of occupations listed on TikTok is associated with the media and marketing industry, which is followed by the arts and entertainment industry (15%), the education sector (12%), the non-profit sector (8%), the technology industry (8%), and the healthcare industry (3%).

    Top Employment Roles Asking for TikTok Talents

    The following are some of the most prevalent student job UK titles that specify knowledge of TikTok as a needed ability:

    • Professionals Who Focus On Marketing
    • Professionals Specializing in Public Relations
    • Designers of Graphs and Images

    These Jobs Involve More Than Just the Creation of Content

    It is common for employers to express their desire to provide newly hired workers with a diverse array of responsibilities by using job titles such as “TikTok Guru” and “Junior Influencer Strategist” and job descriptions that include phrases like “We want to create an environment where your creativity freely flows.”

    My Major Qualifies Me For These Roles, But Can I Apply To Them?

    Although marketing majors made up the largest percentage of applicants for TikTok employment (11%), we observed that there were also numerous applicants with backgrounds in business administration (11%), communication (4%), economics (4%), psychology (3%), and communication studies (2%).
